Construction began in 1988, and the project was completed in December of 1989.

In addition to the library, four business technology classrooms, two computer writing labs, a programming lab, an earth science lab and a physics lab were added as a second story to the addition.

The library became a focal point of school library construction in the area for some time. It continues to serve as one of the best school library media centers in the geographic area.
