I first began working on my "family tree" as a teenager when, during a school vacation, and probably with nothing specific in mind, I began asking my father about our Sherman ancestors. It turned out that his sister had recently turned the family bible over to him. The book had passed to her from their uncle, and while it held no inscriptions, there was an envelope tucked inside the front cover that contained various papers, letters, and other ephemera. Among these was a parchment list, kept by one Caleb Shearman in which were recorded the dates of his two marriages and the dates and times of birth (and sometimes of death) of his 15 children. Caleb was born on January 11th, 1765, and it turns out he was my third great grandfather. Once I saw this, I was hooked!

The links to the left will take you to some of the information I have gathered about my own ancestors, along with other sites of interest. I plan to add information regularly, so please check back!
