SINGER ROADSTER 1952
(SM SINGER ROADSTER)
IN 1972 I PURCHASED THIS ONE IN NEW
HAMPSHIRE most of the wooden structure of this one was rotted ( the body is
aluminum stretched over a wood frame "it was make by real coach
builders" .. the running boards and fenders are steel also was the engine
cowling). When I bought this one it had a Volvo P1800 engine and trans in it ..
Singer went out of business 20yrs prior .. and the previous owner
couldn't find a Singer engine so ( Yankee ingenuity and an arc welder
took over). LOL
SINGER ROADSTER 1951
(SM SINGER ROADSTER)
I FOUND THIS ONE IN 1971
Although Singer were being produced in England at that time, by the Roots Group
( Hillman, Sunbeam , Humber and Alpine ) there were not the same company and
any spare parts were still hard to come by. The body on this one was in great
shape except the fenders front and rear were cut to make way for drag racing
silks and a Ford 427 was sitting in it
(Yankee Stupidity was going to Drag Race It) everything else was in great
shape.
SINGER ROADSTER 1953
( SM SINGER ROADSTER )
PICKED THIS ONE
UP IN 1973 This one was a real sick puppy but it had all the little extras I
needed to complete the one car. The Singer co. was started back in 1898 by a
bicycle maker named George Singer who latter sold the co. in the 20s to two men
..(there names escape me right now ) who were the head of the
racing team for M.G. ( Morris Garage) and wanted to buy the co. because
the ingenious little cars were hard to beat. Well needless to say I have many
spare parts so if you should stumble upon this page and need some
e-mail me and I'll check to see if I have it!!
I USED THE BEST PARTS FROM EACH TO BUILD THE 1951
THOUGH IT 'S TAKEN MANY YEARS IT WAS WORTH THE EFFORT AND SOME DAY
MABYE I WILL GET TO FINISH IT !!
Stop by the NASOC ..North American Singer Owners Club
1970 MGB ( I miss this little guy they don't build them like this anymore )
Under construction
