Have any scum-bag promoters offered you an 'exposure' gig [that's a French word for 'bend-over'] or 'pay to play' gig recently?
Do you wonder why the 'talent' is always the last to be paid? [-- "oh yeah, after paying the soundman, there's no money left"]
Have you noticed that most promoters make a full-time living off of a bunch of part-time performers?
Are you really that desperate for a gig, that you put up with this exploitation?
Now, you may ask yourself "I really want to Just Say No! but how can I say no, when there are so many performers willing to play for free?"
We at Rhythmically Correct Productions understand your predicament ['feel your pain']. We are also performers. Our modest solution to this problem is:
Just Say No! to scum-bag promoters. Close the weekend out. Go fishing. Practice. Do anything, but don't gig. |
If enough performers shut down this one weekend, and let it be known why they're not working that weekend, maybe the club-owners, scum-bag promoters, etc., that feed off of you will "get it." Maybe not, but at least you'll have tried to build a community, and stopped cutting each other's throat for just 3 days (it won't kill you).
